Hannah + Embodied
Welcome to Embodied Counselling & Psychotherapy, I am so glad you’re here!
My name is Hannah, I hold a Masters in Counselling Practice and am a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association. My own lived experience of recovering from an eating disorder and body image concerns, as well as my time as a high school teacher, has informed my practice and desire to support others. Throughout my recovery, I navigated systems that lacked the connection between intensive treatment and my home environment which often left me feeling overwhelmed and isolated. I’ve built a private practice to provide support, skills and strategies for the individual and their carers, educators and loved ones that specialises in offering practical support tailored to your unique needs and preferences.

About Hannah
With a background in Secondary Education and Counselling, Hannah specialises in recovery-focused therapies and has worked in both residential and outpatient settings, including Australia's first specialist residential eating disorder treatment centre, Wandi Nerida. Alongside her work in the therapeutic space, she is passionate about empowering educators to hone their expertise and build the capacity to embed messages of body appreciation where children learn and minimise their lifetime risk of developing mental health concerns such as eating disorders, depression, and anxiety. Ongoing engagement with Body Matters and the Carolyn Costin Institute, as well as working in partnership with organisations including The Butterfly Foundation, Body Image Movement, Headspace, and the Embrace Collective, she has co-designed evidence-based education programs intended to enhance educator capacity and achieve better mental and physical health outcomes for our young people, preventing the onset of mental health concerns in children and adolescents. Working within these leading mental health organisations in prevention and postvention, she is driven to provide evidence-based, best-practice resources and therapeutic practice to support the recovery of those impacted by eating disorders and body image concerns.

Recovery Support & Coaching
What to expect:
Recovery Coaching is designed to help you in establishing vision and direction for recovery, grounded in personalised step-by-step support. This encompasses the process of developing effective coping strategies, navigating transition from intensive treatment to home, school and work settings. Coaching provides an opportunity to bridge the gap while navigating external and internal transitions.
Hannah offers a lens of lived experience to support you as you challenge fears, routines and rituals associated with the eating disorder and complex relationships with food and body. Hannah offers a safe, non-judgemental space to process the challenges of recovery, with practical tools and approaches.
Hannah can support you in-person to navigate obstacles at your home, at a café/restaurant, work and study or online. This could look like:
Text and phone call support
Therapeutic meal support (online, and in-person for SA-based clients)
Food and clothes shopping
Managing and reducing anxiety in social engagements
Liaising with treatment teams to support recovery goals
Hannah works closely with treatment teams to provide opportunities to connect with allied health professionals and work collaboratively on your established recovery goals, prioritising timely and effective communication.
